Happy New Year to all my Cambodian friends from
around the world. I have nothing to say to you, besides this:
Treat and respect each and every single day just the same. Monday should not be more special than Tuesday. Just as though you have seven children, and you should love them and treat them equally as a good parent. No such thing as Monday is a lucky day, Tuesday is a bad luck day or anything like that, in Buddhism. We must master our words, our thoughts and never allow our body to do harm every breath we take. This is the real lucky day! Whatever happened in the past, we cannot change. However we can change our future by living our lives wisely in this present moment. The present is the mother of the future. Therefore, we must cultivate our compassion so we can be a good parent for our future children. Just like His Holiness Dalai Lama said, “Compassion compels us to reach out to all living beings, including our so-called enemies, those people who upset or hurt us. Irrespective of what they do to you, if you remember that all beings like you are only trying to be happy, you will find it much easier to develop compassion towards them.”
May all beings live in Happiness and Peace.
Your Friend,
Jendhamuni
