The Revered Venerable Hem Cheav was given a state funeral by the Cambodian Government 30 years after he lost his life. He died for the Nation and Religion.

Ven. Hem Cheav was just an ordinary Buddhist monk living in one of the ruthless colonialist regimes in the world, colonial French. Colonial French colonizes Cambodia and Kampuchea Krom. Ven. Hem Cheav is a Human Rights and Democratic Activist. Ven. Hem Cheav is a nationalist.

Samdech Chuon Nath is his teacher. Ven. Hem Cheav enters monkhood at the age of 20.

The Revered Ven. Hem Cheav was born on Tuesday Buddhist era 2440 or Christian era 1893 in village O Kaun Tinh, Dombok Meanlaek commune, Udong district, Kampong Speu province, Cambodia (then French protectorate).

Father's name is Hem, who is chief of Dombok Meanlaek commune.
Mother's name is Tiv, who is a farmer.
