By Xiamen, November 9, 2010

Nearly 600 companies attended a four-day trade fair for Buddhist crafts held in east China's Xiamen city beginning on Friday. Also, an expo for vegetarian food was held on the sidelines of the fair.

Most of the participating firms were from east and southeast Asia where Buddhism is popular. And about one quarter were from Taiwan, which lies close to Xiamen and has a mature Buddhist craft manufacturing industry.

The fair, held annually in Xiamen since 2006, seeks to enhance cross-Strait co-operation to boost trade in Buddhist crafts.
