Our own life is the instrument

Recently, one friend asked me, "How can I force myself to smile when I am filled with sorrow?  It isn't natural."  I told her she must be able to smile to her sorrow, because we are more than our sorrow.  A human being is like a television set with millions of channels. If we turn the Buddha on, we are the Buddha. If we turn sorrow on then we are sorrow. If we turn a smile on, we really are the smile. We can not let just one channel dominate us. We have the seed of everything in us, and we have to seize the situation in our hand, to recover our own sovereignty.  ~Thich Nhat Hanh

Good afternoon +Jendhamuni Sos and thank you for a powerful message.   I needed to hear this today, I lost a very dear extended family member and friend.  Anne would WANT me to smile and not to revisit sorrow.  She was truly a magnificent individual who was blessed to introduce the world to electronic educational technology through her company Neogen.  The great news is her legacy will live on through my work and others.  She was a strong advocate for those who were written off as being incapable of excelling in academics.  Her research of ten years proved otherwise and was instrumental in developing a remedy. Again thank you for this important message.  Have a joyous day, my friend.

Live & Die for Buddhism

Me & Grandma

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
