People suffer because

People suffer because they are caught in their views. As soon as we release those views, we are free and we don’t suffer anymore. ~Thich Nhat Hạnh

You're most likely right Jendhamuni my master teacher . I guess I'm an old Marine that worries too much about someone else's bad views and has caused the suffering . But as usual your teachings calms the savage beast . I wish I had your harmony and Grace. Yours Tim

Suffering for the benefit of others is an act of true love and brings more self satisfaction and joy than being selfish does, such as when a hungry person who has very little food for themselves and shares it with others who are also hungry but who have nothing to eat. It is not a lack of suffering that ultimately brings inner peace, but rather doing good works and having a clear conscience about what we do.

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
