SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE U.S. IVORY TRADE!

Bring elephants back from the brink
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is preparing to issue regulations to crack down on the skyrocketing trade in elephant ivory, which led to the deaths of more than 30,000 elephants in 2012. But special interest groups like the NRA are fighting to weaken or delay those rules. Urge President Obama and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to stand strong and propose tough protections right now that will rein in the U.S. ivory market — the second largest in the world — and save elephants from extinction.

Please help us sign the petition to save elephants from extinction

That is something i did not know i thought it was illegal in the United States, I FIND IT ALL VERY REPULSIVE, taking a piece of animal and wearing for adornment, or putting them on a expensive piano so they can rub there fingers over a dead elephants tusks, just sick!!!!! Or carve ornaments and sit the dead elephants on there coffee tables or hang the dead elephants tusks on a wall, who are these sick people buying it???? what other dead things do they have lying around?? Some people are just cruel by nature and really don`t care!!! Just there own selfish needs!!!!!

Why can't vetinarians find a way to trim their tusks down lower in size where poachers can't profit from them. Sometimes even humans need tooth extractions and work too.

    Quote
While many people would make the mistake of assuming that this was about helping save endangered elephants, the NRA understands what the real motivation is. “This is another attempt by this anti-gun Administration to ban firearms based on cosmetics and would render many collections/firearms valueless,” the NRA said in its call to arms. “Any firearm, firearm accessory, or knife that contains ivory, no matter how big or small, would not be able to be sold in the United States, unless it is more than 100 years old. This means if your shotgun has an ivory bead or inlay, your revolver or pistol has ivory grips, your knife has an ivory handle, or if your firearm accessories, such as cleaning tools that contain any ivory, the item would be illegal to sell.”
    End quote

My Reflection

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
