This is not a way of life

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron. ― Dwight D. Eisenhower

Purpose of science, power and money should be the peace and welfare of life on earth but they are choosing the negative option . Good morning Jen.

All a little bit incongruous. Ike was twice US President having previously been a 5 Star General and also Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in WW2.
These words sound more like they should belong to Dylan or Lennon!

Very appropriate Jen…it helps Raghav, (by the way), when expectations of physics in the face of disappointment with them by the indifference it imposes on all creatures, to grasp that it is merely a mechanism for the operating of 'spacetime'. You should try to reflect on a theme I write about which is that your 'existing', (experience of living), is confined to this mechanism, physics, and is at its mercy. However, your 'being' is not, is distinct, and is something beyond physics always, (beyond physics = 'metaphysics'), underpinned and governed by that domain- beyond your physicality.

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
