1. Love at first sight

    36

    I believe
    in love at first sight
    but I will always believe
    that the people
    we love
    we have loved before.
    Many, many, many times before
    and when we stumble
    through grace and circumstance
and that brilliant illusion of choice
    to finally meet them again,
    we feel it faster
    each time through.
    The one glance
    that set life alight
is two sets of two eyes
    staring through the layers
    of lifetimes and stolen glances
    and first kisses and hands held;
    the brace against the weight
    and unrelenting tide
    of waiting.
    I believe
    in love at first sight
but am not burdened with the misconception
    that it's a first sight
    at all.

    203

When you find a man who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will stand in front of you when other’s cast stones, or will stay awake just to watch you sleep, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats, who will hold your hand when your sick, who thinks your pretty without makeup, the one who turns to his friends and say, ‘that’s her’, the one that would bear your rejection because losing you means losing his will to live, who kisses you when you screw up, watches the stars and names one for you and will hold and rock that baby for hours so you can sleep…..you marry him all over again. ~Shannon L. Alder
  4. When someone says

    108

When someone says "please pray for me," they are not just saying "let's have lunch sometime." They are issuing an invitation into the depths of their lives and their humanity- and often with some urgency. And worry is not a substitute for prayer. Worry is a starting place, but not a staying place. Worry invites me into prayer. As a staying place, worry can be self-indulgent, paralyzing, draining, and controlling. When I take worry into prayer, it doesn't disappear, but it becomes smaller. ~Sybil MacBeth
  5. You are you

    67

I find the best way to love someone is not to change them, but instead, help them reveal the greatest version of themselves. ~Steve Maraboli
