1. Someone who can turn your world around

    95

Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful.

  2. Buddha of the Battlefields

His entire family and many friends were murdered by the Khmer Rouge. He seeks Peace and Forgives all the Killers, which stir our nation

His Holiness was sent to study in India, by a renowned Buddhist Master, Ven. Chuon Nath (the Supreme Patriarch of Cambodian Buddhism) to pursue a doctorate in Pali at Nalanda University in Bihar.
(Not too many people know his real date of birth)

Maha Ghosananda (5/23/1913 – 3/12/07)  has been called the “Buddha of the Battlefields.” He was born into a poor peasant family in the southern part of Cambodia. Even then there was great suffering in Cambodia. In the wake of the Depression and World War II, Khmer nationalism began to stir, bringing with it social upheaval, riots, and terrorism. 3. How to Smile

    66

Frown and you frown alone, but smile and the whole world smiles with you.

With 19 variations on the smile, including 16 produced by enjoyable emotions, smiling is an incredibly important part of our lives. Here’s how to develop your grin.

    1. Become comfortable with smiling. If you’re not used to smiling regularly, overcoming your nervousness or cynicism about smiling can take a little practice but like any habit, it’s easy to reform with time. Some things to keep in mind include:

A smile always looks good. Feeling nervous about the beauty or appearance of your smile is unnecessary. Trust that your smile makes you look great.
A smile is professional. Smiling at work or during other professional occasions is not going to make you seem unprofessional. Quite the opposite, a smile will humanize you and make you appear more approachable. People will appreciate your recognition of their worth and of a job well done when you smile.

A smile makes you real. If you’re afraid of appearing vulnerable when you smile, accept that any form of vulnerability suggested by a smile is precisely what makes it such a powerful act. You’re opening yourself up to others and people will respond better to that than to a serious, unmoved demeanor. Moreover, a smile accompanied by an assertive personality will take care of any sense that people will use your smile to walk all over you! Continue reading

  5. My mother’s flower

    33

I don’t know the name of these flowers. They look almost like lotus flowers and the color is very similar also. I just saw them when I drove by my house this afternoon. My mother bought this many years ago, but I thought it was just tree without gorgeous flowers like this. I guess I was too busy to even look at our front yard ever since. My mother was a bit upset when I told her this. By the time I noticed, the pretty flowers grow old already, but still look good enough for my eyes.

  6. Spinach Salad – My favorite dish!

    45

I must have an avocado and many baby tomatoes in my salad, without croutons or any dressing. A little  salt and olive oil is okay. I don’t like oily stuff and my salad must look very clean and beautiful. I love eating raw vegetables very much because I don’t know how to cook and don’t have time to cook. So salad is a perfect dish for me. Salad or soup is my main dish, while nuts are my desert.

Subtly sweet and nutty with a malleable, chewy texture, the roasted seeds from inside your Halloween pumpkin are one of the most nutritious and flavorful seeds around. While pumpkin seeds are available year round, they are the freshest in the fall when pumpkins are in season.

Pumpkin seeds, also known as pepitas, are flat, dark green seeds. Some are encased in a yellow-white husk, although some varieties of pumpkins produce seeds without shells. Like cantaloupe, cucumber, and squash, pumpkins and pumpkin seeds belong to the gourd or Cucurbitaceae family. Continue reading

We knew bananas were good for you but this we didn’t know.

The fully ripe banana produces a substance called TNF, which has the ability to combat abnormal cells.

As the banana ripens, it develops dark spots or patches on the skin. The more dark patches it has, the higher will be its’ immunity enhancement quality.

Hence, the Japanese love bananas for a good reason…

According to a Japanese scientific research, banana contains TNF, which has anti-cancer properties.

The degree of anti-cancer effect corresponds to the degree of ripeness of the fruit, i.e. the riper the banana, the better the anti-cancer quality… Continue reading

Live & Die for Buddhism

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
