1. Embrace Fragility

    41

Simply be mindful of fragility – both actual and potential. Notice how many things do break – defined broadly – and notice how many more there are that could break and eventually will: “things” such as physical objects (e.g., cup, blouse, body, species, ecosystem, earth’s crust), relationships, projects, agreements, states of mind, lives, and societies. All things fall apart, one way or another. Everything cracks. And yet there is something so beautiful about this part of the truth, as Leonard Cohen says much more eloquently than I can:

Ring the bells that still can ring
    Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in
That’s how the light gets in

Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity. ~Buddha

  4. Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses

    Comment

Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do. To be able under all circumstances to practice five things constitutes perfect virtue; these five things are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness. ~Confucius

“Please, no matter how we advance technologically, please don’t abandon the book. There is nothing in our material world more beautiful than the book.” ~Patti Smith

  5. Study how water flows

    Comment

Study how water flows in a valley stream, smoothly and freely between the rocks. Also learn from holy books and from wise people. Everything- even mountains, rivers, plants and trees- should be your teacher. Author: Morehei Ueshiba

  6. A good heart will always remain

    Comment

A pretty face will get old,
    A nice body will change,
but a good heart will always remain.

“It is very important to generate a good attitude, a good heart, as much as possible. From this, happiness in both the short term and the long term for both yourself and others will come.” ~Andrew David

  7. Sunset Lover

    407

Your love is like a sunset,
    wild, bright and true.
    The colours blend together,
    forming a magical hue.
    The day’s warm caress
    is slipping through the air,
    just as though your fingers
would be slipping through my hair.

I sit and watch the sunset,
    knowing it soon will end,
    thinking of you and
waiting ’til we will be together again.
    Slowly now it’s going,
    coming to an end.
    Darkness may be closing in,
but the fun has just begun.

For now I can go home,
    go to my darkened room,
    lie on the bed and
    close my eyes,
fall asleep and dream of you.

  8. Today’s forecast

    Comment

    Today’s weather forecast
It would be cloudy if you frown
    Rainy if you cry
    Clear if you are happy
    Sunny if you smile
    Stormy if you sing
    Have a sweet day
    Today,
    And every day.

Live & Die for Buddhism

Me & Grandma

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
