1. Peace starts within each one of us

    Comment

Peace starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. When our community is in a state of peace, it can share peace with neighboring communities, and so on. When we feel love and kindness towards others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace. ~14th Dalai Lama

  2. The joy of life

    30

Those who make compassion an essential part of their lives find the joy of life. Kindness deepens the spirit and produces rewards that cannot be completely explained in words. It is an experience more powerful than words. To become acquainted with kindness one must be prepared to learn new things and feel new feelings. Kindness is more than a philosophy of the mind. It is a philosophy of the spirit. ~Robert J. Furey

Every human being, of whatever origin, of whatever station, deserves respect. We must each respect others even as we respect ourselves. ~U. Thant

  4. Kindness throws out roots in all directions

    50

A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves. ~Emelia Earhart

  5. The kindness you give

    310

The kindness you give isn’t always the same thing you get in return… sometimes it’s more, sometimes it’s less, worst, sometimes you get none at all… but remember , GOD said: the one who willingly gives is always more blessed than the one who receives. ~Ritu Ghatourey

  6. The words of kindness are more healing…

    Comment

It’s the small acts of kindness that make the world a beautiful place worth living in. Whether you pay for someone’s coffee, offer a few words of encouragement for a friend, allow someone to take your seat on the bus, open a door for someone juggling a stroller and a toddler and three shopping bags, send a green star or two, or compliment a stranger on those cool boots, it all adds to the pool of decency in the world. ~Sarah M.

  8. Taking care of the environment

    Comment

We as Buddhists believe that benefiting others is an act of kindness, and the first thing that comes to our mind, as act of kindness, is giving alms to the poor. That’s not the only way, there are many ways to be kind. Taking care of the environment and nature is also a very important act of kindness that can benefit many humans and animals alike in the future. ~17th Karmapa

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.

Of the many problems we face today, some are natural calamities and must be accepted and faced with equanimity. Others, however, are of our own making, created by misunderstanding, and can be corrected...
