Apple’s iPhone 6 will finally give everyone what they want

Apple’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone phablet are shaping up to be the most important devices Apple has launched since the first iPad debuted in 2010. For years, Apple has known that consumers wanted smartphones with significantly larger displays, but the practically useless bump from 3.5 inches to 4 inches on the iPhone 5 was all it was willing to offer. Until now, it would seem. Numerous reports have suggested that the iPhone 6 will feature a larger 4.7-inch display that might finally bring a more useful screen size increase to Apple’s flagship smartphone. On top of that, Apple is widely expected to launch a second new iPhone in 2014 with an even bigger screen. Watch video and read more

If Steve Jobs was alive the I Phone would have already have a 4.7 inch screen

+Francis Delenda Jobs was the one who wouldn't let the bigger screen happen.
It is only because he is gone, that we will finally get bigger screens.

Innovation unlikely. Same as Microsoft just milk the markets and get people to upgrade for more revenue.

+Francis Delenda Actually, you are completely wrong on that point. Jobs was the main reason screen size wasn't increased sooner. The roadmap for iPhones was drawn up and set in stone for 2 years after he died. What we're seeing now, is the last desperate attempts of a dieing brand to win back market share, that have completely run out of ideas and iPhone 6 will be the first iPhone without Job's integral involvement. Apple was moribund from the day Steve Jobs died…Period…From completely shaking an industry and turning it on its head, being so far ahead of the competition they stunned and dominated it, when the original iPhone was released, they now just imitate & follow other companies' ideas or, more often that not, buy out small companies with great ideas, slap a patent on them and call them "revolutionary".Nobody is fooled by this crap anymore, but people that have invested in Apple's proprietary crap ecosystem are trapped until they break out of that walled garden. Only in the USA is Apple still relevant, the rest of the planet has already left them behind and moved on…

Looks like a poor imitation of the HTC One & M8. And sorry to be the barer of bad news fanboys, but you won't be seeing anything with an edge2edge screen, we've already seen the photos of dummy phones, no pun intended, and they are as bezely as ever. The fact is, Apple should have made something like this years ago. I remember renders back in 2011 of what was supposedly gonna be the iPhone 5, which looked very similar to this, but all we got was the 4S instead. Too little, too late CrApple…

I'm a Android person but I know people who have iphones and in most cases its because of there size. I would not go any bigger than 4.3 inches. 4.7 inches to me takes away what Steve jobs ideas were. That's why people liked the Moto X it a smaller phone with a decent size display. The current iPhone fits in your pocket nicely too. I guess well see….

    May 14, 2014

I agree. That's what I think making it bigger the price will be $900 or higher. That really need to make a more mid range device but still having the quality that iPhone users want and are use too. I dont get this 5.5 inch phablet that's stupid its a much smaller market for those phones. Concentrate on mid range and high end thats small with decent size display. Also rocking good battery life and a really great camera. I think battery life, camera and amount of storage is want the consumer looks for in any brand phone iOS or Android.

I remembered apple boasting about the ease of use of iphn5 screen with one hand and now what they say u can easily use two hands. And tell its new innovation… Guys get over it

    May 14, 2014

+Andi Hope I don't think I am wrong. Two years ago the technology to support the larger screens was in its infancy. Steve Jobs was the kind of guy that could turn his company around on a dime and that's what everyone liked about him. Bigger screen or not we each have our preferences and I am sure there are apple fans out there that will embrace larger screen devices. If the consumer wants diversity just give it to them. Once again sir, no, I am not wrong. That's just your perspective. Also, note that we do more with our phones today than we did 2 years ago.

+Francis Delenda No, over 2yrs ago I bought an S3 with a 4.7" 720p screen. Just because Apple didn't go larger, doesn't mean the technology didn't bloody exist, hilarious! It has nothing to do with my perspective, it's pure fact. The iPhone 6, although an upgrade from the current flagship is curiously still not gonna have a 1080p screen for some obscure reason and gonna be way behind the competition.

  25. Francis Delenda

    May 16, 2014

+Andi Hope learn how to read first. I didn't say didn't exist, I said it was in its infancy. Apple does not manufacture displays, Samsung does. So, Samsung will be the first to use the screens it manufactures. What does Apple manufacture? Nothing! Once again read before you respond

  26. Andi Hope

    May 17, 2014

+Francis Delenda So let's go through this again Fucktard?…Exactly how were screens larger than 4" in their infancy 2yrs ago?…4yrs ago 4" was the normal size for anything other than iPhones, over 3yrs ago 4.3" was the average screen size,2yrs ago 4.7" 720p was the average screen size & pixel count & for 14 months now most handsets have been between 4.7-5" with full HD screens 1920X1080p. So,Fucking tell me again idiot, exactly how were larger screens than iPhones in their Fucking infancy 2yrs ago and how, exactly, did Apple come to the decision that the iPhone 6 should have a sub HD 960p screen when the standard is already 1080p now, moving onto 2.5k in the second half of the year?!Get your ifanboy head out of the sand, get your facts straight and actually learn something about your esteemed God Steve Jobs.He was the sole reason the iPhone didn't go larger, sooner, because he believed, & indeed insisted, that the iPhone must be able to be used with one hand as a fundamental design principle. So,going back to and,in answer to your original post…NO STEVE JOBS 100% WOULDN'T HAVE GONE WITH A LARGER IPHONE SOONER…End of discussion…Period…

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
