Be Compassionate

Sometimes we talk too much about God.
We ask God too much for help,
instead of learning how to help ourselves.
But, how often do we follow God's teaching?
This world is so miserable, because most of us
never follow the teaching of our God.
We are too good at attacking one another
and at picking on each other over every little thing.
We bother God too much, but hardly
apply his teaching into our daily practice.

You don't have to be religious to be a kind and caring person, I would never call my self religious but I would like to think that I'm a caring and considerate person and I think that is all that matters.

this is so true , when i look at my birth religion and what vatican has done of it , they are so far from the teachings of christ , but it's also very cultural , the western powers have climbed to the top by aggression and violence , for a few months now i have been working at not retaliating to aggressions , and last week my dearest wife introduced me to something else , translated a Chinese text for me , and sudently it's becoming possible , now to all my aggressors i try to say "thank you for a chance to practice my tolerance and better myself"
    amitofu ,be at peace all

God is love, and compassion. Religion is mans attempt to help himself.

+Jeff Shamburg , i don't like the word "god" has too much connotation to some mythological overpowerfull creature that you need to submit to , i do not say i am without beliefs but  i do not believe in prayer power , but i do believe in the power of doing good around us (because it is contagious) , and i am working at applying this to my thoughts (harder then it sounds)

I believe in being a good father and husband, and I try to be polite and courteous to everyone I meet.

Yes +Eric Soulliage, difficult at best however I would stand by impossible. Can a soup say, "I am missing an ingredient, I will put it in myself"?

Never trust anyone completely but God. Love people, but put your full trust only in God.

+Jeff Shamburg well this soup of neurone and synapse has one advantage over the chicken variety : it's self adapting from what it learns , so yes now activity is shaping tomorrow , i.e , recognising that it's "missing an ingredient" , makes the ingredient "tomorrow" and integrates it "after-tomorrow" ,

I read this article ..then another one rembered inthe time…'For those who believe in God most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't really accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written, We adjust to new conditions, and discoveries. We are pliable Love need not be command nor faith a dictum. I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the Temple , mosque or church, state and our educational system. We are here to drink ……….., we are here to kill war, we are here to lough at the ods and live our lives, so well that Death will tremble to take us'……..

God is like the air we breath , around us but we wouldn't be around without Him even though we can't see Him.

I feel like staring at the water effect for a few moments. It's appealing to eye and mood.

I did like the poem, but one thing though is that we don't bother God.He's always happy to help us:)

God is like our parents, because our parents never complain, does not mean we should keep bothering them for every little thing. We should give our parents some break by learning how to be independent….

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
