Blame and Praise

This world is very miserable — full of suffering. No need for us to attack one another on cyberspace. Still, we cannot stop those who choose this path. But, we can control ourselves from participating in these attacks. I do understand that many of us, only want to hear praise and positive comments. If someone made negative comments about our posts, suddenly we jump and let go our value completely, just like trading our diamonds with stones. In this world, no one on this earth will praise us all the time and no one on this earth will criticize us all the time either. By reacting to the attacks or negative comments in negative ways, it shows that, We, and the Attackers, are no difference — just one of a kind…We are no better…

This is a great call for moderation and temperance…

But even when we're calm and equanimous, "we are no better" than the 'attackers'!
If we believe we are better, we then create separation and conflict… We are not separate, we share the same world… We perceive 'attacks' where we should see 'distress', and we failed to prevent distress just as much as the 'attacker' fails…

    So, moderation and temperance?
Sure! By all means! They are definitely more 'constructive' and 'wholesome' than retaliation.
Delusions that we are better, thanks to our temperance?
It's forgetting that the temperance was probably more caused by our teachers (and, more generally, life lessons) than by ourselves 😉

Like the echo. We shout to the world who we are and the world shouts back our echo. Sometimes we don't like it.

I believe that's the point of our journey, to learn to control our base instincts and then fine tune them to help others feel better about their lot in life. I know I'll always have behaviors to work on………. but I am aware and doing what I can to improve all the time.

So you are saying there is no point to praise or criticism? I would debate that there is no point to mediocrity. Praise and criticism sort the wheat from the chaff, thus are useful. And by being 'useful' thus both are in fact good.

Live & Die for Buddhism

Me & Grandma

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
