Children in my country, Cambodia

How they survive from day to day
If you go out into the real world, you cannot miss seeing that the poor are poor not because they are untrained or illiterate but because they cannot retain the returns of their labor. They have no control over capital, and it is the ability to control capital that gives people the power to rise out of poverty. ~Muhammad Yunus

Thank for sharing. Being here in wasteful America things like this help me to keep my mouth close intend of complaining. I love people and always keep the abuse, oppressed in my prayers thru out the world. I stay inform of what's going on throughout the world. God is still in control, although it is the oppressors that keep the people down.

It is not only in Cambodia alone. I think in entire developing world poor have become poorer while rich have become richer. This is evident in India. All primarily because of rampant corruption even at the highest level and unequal opportunities and unequal distribution of resources and wealth.

Esto es respetable, pues asi hay supervision mientras se trabaja dentro y fuera de el hogar, y las criticas no valen cuando no se vive la necesidad y el dolor de la pobreza!

But according to my rich friends in America if you allow the dispossessed a fair return on labor (i.e. a living wage) you impose an unfair burden on the rentier class who, in order to preserve their own wealth and thereby safeguard the economy, have no choice but to further restrict the flow of capital out of their own hands.  Why even the Congressional Budget Office said that if Obama's proposal to raise the minimum wage were enacted it would cost the country approximately a half a million jobs.
Of course, I don't believe any of them.  And for whatever it's worth I have no rich friends.

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
