Dealing with Rude People

When You Can't Run and Hide! These are the top 3 things to remember when handling the negative and rude crowd:
….•*•.¸¸. ♥

1. Realize that THEY are the ones with the personality problem, not you. They’re the one with so much negativity inside that it’s oozing outside. Get away before it gets on you.

2. Don’t mirror them by sinking down to their level.  You should never mirror anyone, of course, but if you ever DO try someone else’s “look” on, make sure it’s attractive. Why’d you want to be ugly too?

3. Never allow anyone to rob you of your happiness.  They say misery loves company. Just because the invitation’s sent doesn’t mean you have to accept!

I often have to deal with rude people at work (I work as a parking lot attendant.  Glamorous, no?).  The kind of people that think if they argue and throw a big temper tantrum they'll get things their way.  I've developed some pretty fool-proof techniques for dealing with them:  the first one is I never argue with them, as there's nothing to argue about.  The parking fee is not up for debate.  I also try to smile and agree with as much as they say (as long as it isn't completely untrue).
It really confuses people when they think they're going to get me to engage in a confrontation that they plan to win, only to find that I refuse to argue.

The only issue is there are people who cause people to be rude because they are crappy people.  There are plenty of dumb, loud, happy people who just create a lot of trash and problems and don't care.  Too many awful, unaware people who take no self responsibility for their actions.  If someone gives you a dirty look or flips you off or scoffs at you or yells at you, you almost certainly did something wrong and you should evaluate your actions.

Ask yourself why are they rude? Are they rude because you are in your own little world, a buddle and in that buddle you are the center of the universe.

Sometimes rude people are put in your path because they present an issue in yourself you need to face. For example, if slow drivers annoy you, you will be put behind every slow driver until you master patience

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
