Every being wants happiness, not suffering

We must put others before us and keep others in our mind constantly: the self must be placed last. All our doings and thinkings must be motivated by compassion for others. The way to acquire this kind of outlook is that we must accept the simple fact that whatever we desire is also desired by others. Every being wants happiness, not suffering. If we adopt a self-centered approach to life by which we attempt to use others for our own self-interest, we might be able to gain temporary benefit, but in the long run, we will not succeed in achieving even our personal happiness, and hope for next life is out of question. ~ H.H. Dalai Lama

+Manju R I'm a buddhist. Buddha teach us to be strong, not to cry for help, and we must face the problems with a smile as a true buddhist. I never beg anyone for mercy, even if someone place a knife or gun on my neck.

+Manju R I don't pray. I only pay respect to Buddha and follow his teaching via the so-called prayer.

+Manju R It won't make any difference. Just try your best. I'm not rejecting your request. But this is against the teaching of Lord Buddha.

I always try to look out for others. That is just the way my family was brought up and raised. Wish more would join in… 🙂

Sometimes our families miss out on what is right and what we should do. It is never an easy path. I get a lot of grief from my parents on certain things too. Keep smiling and do as Budda says and keep smiling +Jendhamuni Sos

+Manju R Then I'm wrong. You can do what you want to do if it makes you feel better, but I'm sticking to my belief.

we must learn we are all special, and we are linked in a strange way that
compels us to reach out, facing life is living life, running from life is greedy and selfish, caring, sharing is strength, +Jendhamuni Sos

Correct! If we put ourselves last and others first and if we all do that from heart, everybody comes in priority of others! That is the way of God!

We must realize, we are like a finger. Without the other fingers we are useless. Look after the hand which keeps it together.

They used to tell me to grow up,
And get my arse in gear.
They used to say there's more to life,
    Than cars, sex and beer.
They used to tell me all that stuff,
When i was just a child,
They used to say i will regret
    My living hard and wild.
I didn't pay attention then and that was long ago,
I wish that i could find a way
    To let them plainly know.
I didn't change my crasy ways, nor did i plan to quit,
For what its worth, the advice they gave
    Was simply full of s*@t.

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
