Fragrance of virtue travels against the wind

The perfume of sandalwood,
Rosebay or jasmine
Cannot travel against the wind.

But the fragrance of virtue
Travels even against the wind,
As far as the ends of the world.

Like garlands woven from a heap of flowers,
Fashion from your life as many good deeds.

The beauty of your words is only rivaled by the wisdom from whence they came. Man is not god ,and god is not man. The positive and negative combine to make us what we are. I read you and think only of love, but the negative forces must also be considered. Thank you for your words and good night.

+Hans Wohlfarth Virtue from Latin virtus or moral excellence. The modern definition is outlined by the concept of tolerance of suffering. Our concepts in the west are outlined in the psychological sciences what springs to mind are the theorist Piaget and Kohlberg. What is remarkable here is that the Buddha came to these conclusions independently by meditation and contemplation 2500 years ago.

+Hemant Dave the ultimate is you don't maim under any circumstances. Even if it cost you your own life. This insight is only reserved for a few people. I definitely kill, if my own life is on the line. According Kohlberg a level 4 Like most of the human race. I'm not an authority on Buddhism I only try to learn something. I believe the ultimate goal is timeless.

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
