It is easy to see the faults of others

It is easy to see the faults of others, but hard to see one's own. Men point out the faults of others but cover their own as a dishonest gambler hides a losing throw of the dice. ~Buddha, The Dhammapada

We believe we don't have faults. But down deep we know in our heart we have. Instead of trying to change we put the blame on others.

Nice one, why when you point it out they get so upset at you when your only trying to help them?

For me, it's very easy to see my own faults- but it's frustrating to know what they are and not be able to change them more easily.  That's why I think I end up  focusing so much on the faults of others, of society, of politics, etc..  I can't change those either but then, unlike my own faults, I don't expect to be able to!

Before you criticize another, walk  a mile in his shoes. That way you're a mile away, and you have his shoes.

As it is hard to see one's face wituot a mirror, similary it is hard to notice one's own flaws without the help of others.

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
