Quality of Life

Our success as a nation is not measured by how many years we have governed or how many wars we have won. It is measured by the quality of life which we have created for the society that our ideals were founded upon.

I agree that a country must rate it's success on the quality of life it has brought about for it's citizens. As far as "quality of life which we have created for the society that our ideals were founded upon", I agree that in principal our ideals do not change much over time although I also see how our new internet connected society is challenging and forming a future that is going to require great deal of flexibility and adaptation to maintain even our present quality of life. "deep breath!" 😀

Well the best post ever, you hit the nail right on the head. Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith should be compulsory reading.  Disturbing some suggestions that we turn the clock back pre 18th century and back to the robber barons.

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
