1. Peace is something you make

    514

Peace is not something you wish for,
    it is something you make,
something you are, something you do,
    and something you give away.

    ~Robert Fulghum

  2. Our job is to Love others

    175

Our job is to love others without stopping to inquirewhether or not they are worthy…this love itself will render both ourselves and our neighbors worthy. ~Thomas Merton

  3. We Must Practice What We Preach

    43

    Like a beautiful flower,
full of colour, but without scent,
are the fine but fruitless words
of those who do not act accordingly.
    But like a beautiful flower,
full of colour and full of scent,
are the fine and fruitful words
of those who do act accordingly.

    ~Buddha

  4. Pink Lotus Flower

    64

    This is the supreme lotus
    and is considered to be
    the true lotus of Buddha.

  5. Impurity

    44

Life seems easy for one who is shameless,
    who is a crowing hero, a mischief-maker,
an insulting, impudent, and corrupt person.
But life seems difficult for one who is modest,
who always looks for what is pure,
who is detached, quiet, clear, and intelligent.

    ~Buddha

  6. Always Speak Kind Words

    375

    Do not speak anything harsh.
Those who are spoken to will answer you.
Angry talk is painful, and retaliation will touch you.
If you make yourself as still as a broken gong,
you have attained nirvana, for anger is not known to you.

    ~Buddha

  7. Pure and Harmless

    144

Whoever does wrong to an innocent person
or to one who is pure and harmless,
the wrong returns to that fool
just like fine dust thrown against the wind.

    ~Buddha

  8. Yesterday I was Angry

    69

Yesterday I was angry with God.
Today I am angry with my anger.
    My Lord tells me
That if anger is the problem
    In my life,
    Then the immediate solution
    Is love.

    By Sri Chinmoy

  9. Every being wants happiness, not suffering

    62

We must put others before us and keep others in our mind constantly: the self must be placed last. All our doings and thinkings must be motivated by compassion for others. The way to acquire this kind of outlook is that we must accept the simple fact that whatever we desire is also desired by others. Every being wants happiness, not suffering. If we adopt a self-centered approach to life by which we attempt to use others for our own self-interest, we might be able to gain temporary benefit, but in the long run, we will not succeed in achieving even our personal happiness, and hope for next life is out of question. ~ H.H. Dalai Lama

Me & Grandma

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
